“Every human being has three basic needs—safety, satisfaction, and connection—that are grounded in our ancient evolutionary history.”
― Rick Hanson, Resilient: How to Grow an Unshakable Core of Calm, Strength, and Happiness
About Me
I attended the University of North Texas for my Bachelor’s in Social Work and at the University of Texas at Arlington for my Master’s in Social Work. I hold a license as a Clinical Social Worker in the State of Texas (LCSW #61150).
Prior to entering private practice, I gained valuable experience in various non-profit settings, where I provided mental health services for individuals of all ages. In my free time, I cherish being outdoors, spending quality moments with my loved ones (including my furry companions), and enjoying live music experiences.
I incorporate therapy methods such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), somatic-based, mindfulness-based, and person-centered. I prioritize ongoing education in therapeutic approaches to continuously build competency. Along with this, I also value receiving therapy for myself and experiencing the uses of these approaches first hand.
Through my own journey of self-understanding, I came to recognize my sensitivities not as a flaw, but as a strength. I believe there is incredible, often untapped potential in sensitive people.
I am passionate about working with others who struggle with anxiety due to sensitivities or just need support with anxiety for a variety of reasons.
Growing up, I often felt overstimulated, anxious, and overwhelmed, and I didn’t know why. And yet, even with this struggle, I remember how deeply I could feel joy and wonder. Music, nature, and meaningful connection moved me in ways that were vibrant and rich. I felt the world in full color. Learning about what it means to be a highly sensitive person (HSP) gave me a name for what I had always experienced. I also lived with an anxiety disorder and a learning disability, which made navigating the world challenging. These experiences make my work incredibility important to me.
